10 teams of 4 (2 males/2 females) compete in 8 Challenges that test their strength, endurance, and mental toughness.

Jamaica’s first and only official obstacle course race event! This 6-km takes participants through rugged terrain with and challenges them with over 25 obstacles such as walls, balance beams, carries, climbing ropes, and more! There will be a postrace party with music, food, drinks, and activities for the entire family!

The Guardsman Challenge is accessible to all. Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished athlete. Participants have the option to race competitively in the “Elite Heats” or just for fun in the “Open Heats”.

The Elite Heats are the first heats of the day for athletes looking to compete for the top spots and prizes.

Participants must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the Guardsman Challenge course.

Participants in the elite heats may retry as many times as they wish in the designated retry lanes. If they are unable to successfully complete an obstacle, their wristband will be cut off and they will not be eligible for prizes.

Participants retrying must yield to participants on their first attempt. Participants in the open heats must complete a running penalty loop when failing an obstacle.

Entry to the race and participant race kit which includes a race bib, timing chip for official results, Guardsman Challenge T-Shirt, Finisher Medal and Access to post event festival area.

Plan to arrive 1- 2 hours before your heat start time to allow yourself time to get registered and ready. Once you arrive at registration, you will sign a waiver, obtain your Guardsman Challenge Race Kit, attach your race bib and timing chip (from the kit). You should warm-up, hydrate, and be at the START LINE 10 minutes prior to your heat. Don’t forget to have fun with your friends and make sure to smile for the cameras while participating in Jamaica’s first Obstacle Course Race!

Race kit pick-up will be available on site at the Hope Zoo on Friday, September 1st and Saturday, September 2nd. An email providing specific details regarding race kit pickup will be sent the week leading up to the race.

No. You will need to be present to pick up your race kit with photo ID or a copy of your confirmation.

Spectators are allowed to watch from the marked areas located near spectator friendly obstacles. Spectator passes are available for $1,500.00 for the Guardsman Challenge on Sunday or $2,500.00 for the entire weekend. (Remember all money collected is for Charity!)

Athletes participating in the Elite heat at the Guardsman Challenge will have the opportunity to qualify to compete at the OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) World Championships on October 13-15, 2017 at Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario, Canada. For more information please visit http://ocrworldchampionships.com/faq/

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 males and female finishers from the Elite Heats.

Leave all your valuables at home! Bring Photo ID, a copy of your registration confirmation, a towel and a water bottle.

You should arrive in running shoes and be dressed to race! Wear clothing that you don’t mind getting wet or dirty. We suggest that you bring an extra set of clothing for after the race.

There will be a bag drop available for donations that will support the two charities of choice for the Guardsman Challenge.

Due to the nature of the event being in support of charities, we will not be issuing any refunds for any reason. We thank you for your donation!

Official race results will be available here (LINK) within 24 hours of the event.

An email notification will be sent to all participants once event photos have been uploaded and ready to view.

The Guardsman Challenge will go on rain or shine. However, the race could be postponed due to extreme weather like hurricanes, torrential downpours, or lightening storms. In the exceptional event that The Guardsman Challenge is cancelled due to weather, entries will remain non-refundable.

How much does it cost to participate?

Registration costs will vary based upon the date you register for the event. The earlier you register, the better!

  • PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR SHOES (NO SPIKED SHOES ARE PERMITTED IN THE EVENT)
  • PARTICIPANTS MUST COMPLETE A WAIVER BEFORE TAKING PART OF THE EVENT.
  • PARTICIPANTS SHALL NOT BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL WHEN COMPLETING THE COURSE.
  • NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED ONSITE.
  • NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED.
  • YOUNG CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED WHEN SPECTATING THE EVENT.
  • PRE-RUNNING / WALKING THE COURSE, OR PRACTICING OBSTACLES PRIOR TO THE OFFICIAL
    START OF THE EVENT IS GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION.
  • HEADPHONES, IPODS, MP3PLAYERS, MUSIC PLAYERS AND OTHER PERSONAL AUDIO DEVICES ARE NOT TO BE CARRIED OR WORN AT ANY TIME BY ELITE AND COMPETITIVE CATEGORY COMPETITORS WHILE ON THE
    COURSE.
  • LITTERING ON THE COURSE IS GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION, THIS INCLUDES GEAR THE ATHLETE STARTED THE EVENT CARRYING OR WEARING.
  • SPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT IS EXPECTED OF ALL COMPETITORS, AT ALL TIMES IN ALL AREAS OF THE EVENT AND COMPETITION. ‘UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT’ IS GROUNDS FOR EXPULSION FROM THE EVENT AND FUTURE EVENTS AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF RACE OFFICIALS.
